When I Think of Home Visual (2023)

For my first solo show, When I Think of Home, this visual served as a place for self reflection that conceptualizes the idea of “home”

These home videos highlight my family from 1994-2020 and the themes throughout black culture that inspire me today. The background is a sunset I filmed outside of my paternal grandmother’s home in July 2020.

Accompanied by As by Stevie Wonder, this video represents black joy, community, togetherness, and love that expands beyond saying “I love you”. This is about the love you find and seek in gathering, eating, dancing, hugging, laughing etc.
